I work intuitively with clay, and utilize the plasticity of the material to create my haunting and gestural figures. My clay vessels are loosely formed with coils; I then push and pull the material until a face emerges. The faces seem to manifest from an unknown space, as if I’m channeling a “being” into existence. The void inside of the vessel symbolizes the consciousness; the vast, invisible and largely unknown space of the mind.
