I’m interested in the study of Out of Body Experiences (OBE) and related extra sensory phenomena. OBE’s suggest that the mind has the ability to disconnect outside of the everyday spectrum of the interior body space and into the realm of a non-ordinary reality. Touch My Nose was realized after reading about the V.S. Ramachandran studies where a blindfolded subject and a control subject would touch noses in sync. After a series of repetitive nose touches, the blindfolded subject eventually experienced the sensation of the testers arm becoming an extension of their nose and sometimes even their whole body. Despite the seemingly tethered weight of our bodies, perhaps we are more connected to our sentient surroundings than we think.
